Syllabus 2008 - 2009

Dear Student,

Greetings!
My name is Mrs. Isabel Geary, and I will be your Spanish 1 teacher this year. I am very excited about this 2008-2009 school year. I look forward to working with you to be all that you can be. Spanish will be a challenging but fun course. Every student can excel in this class. The key to success in my class is simply EFFORT.

· White 1 ½ inch binder (the type with clear pockets on front and back)
· Packet of dividers
· Notebook paper
· Blue/black pens
· One bag of candy

2. Stay in your seat.

4. No insults or vulgar language/behavior
5. Participate!

Consequences
1st offense – name on board, 30 min detention
2nd offense - check by name, 1 hr detention
3rd offense – 2 checks by name, 1 ½ hrs detention

Grades
Homework & Notes – 20%

Expectations
I expect students to take responsibility for their own learning. You must come to class everyday, on time, and with all your supplies. You will be required to maintain a Spanish binder. This will include all vocabulary lists, notes, homework, and progress reports, etc. You must be prepared to participate, having completed your homework the night before. Each student will be checked out a book which he/she will be responsible for. You will have homework on a regular basis. But don't worry - it's going to be a great year!!

Yours truly,
Isabel A. Geary
